The African Diaspora Sixth Region High Council www.auadshighcouncil.org recently engaged in a pivotal
meeting with the African Union Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights. This significant gathering
featured key figures including Mr. Petrus Kauluma (left) from the African Union ECOSOCC and Mr. Bright
Sefah (right). Dr. Barryl A. Biekman, Chair of Directors of the AUADS 6th Region High Council, represented
the interests of over 300 million Global Diasporans, including those from Brazil. Contributions were also
made by Professor Dr. Eduardo Lourenco Viane, President of the AUADS High Council, and Dr. Tumenta
Kennedy, Commissioner of the African Development Agency of the AUADS High Council. They focused on
critical topics such as Reparatory Justice, the UN International Decade for People of African Descent, and
strategies for redefining the role of the Pan-African Parliament in enhancing diaspora engagement.

The dialogue centered on aligning efforts between the Pan-African Parliament, the African Union ECOSOCC, and the Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, as well as the African Parliamentary Press Network. The aim was to enhance collaboration and streamline initiatives that facilitate the integration and active involvement of the diaspora within African Union structures.
